Remember when buying a bird
It’s about more than getting the best price.
It’s
about buying from someone who has a genuine interest for the welfare of
their birds. This is evident in the way the birds are raised and cared
for.
Helpful Hints:
Always
have shell grit for your budgies because like all birds budgies don’t
have teeth. Instead they have gizzards (the muscular organ that grinds
the bird’s food)
Always have cuttlefish bone for your budgies to chew on. It’s good for their beaks and provides calcium.
Always have fresh greens for your budgie as most caged budgies suffer malnutrition from unbalanced diets.
Many budgies on seed-only diets develop obesity and can be expected to live only 4 to 5 years.
Ideal lifespan for a healthy budgie on balanced diet of fresh greens and seed can be 8 to 10 years.
Make sure the food and water dishes have semi covered lids so budgies don’t poop in them and become sick.
